Game Description

Dungeon Moogle? Get it? DM. Hah. I’m so clever kupo.

Why yes; I do copy and paste that line into the beginning of all of my posts – as well as this line explaining it.

Welcome Inspectors! Welcome to this terribly non-canon briefing!

As I just said; you are Inspectors! Investigators! Synonyms! You are all legendary members of your profession (except that you’re not) and you are gathered here today to bring about the downfall of a legendary villain! (okay more legendary than you dolts at least)

Where are we you ask? WELL YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT, YOU’RE INSPECTORS, THAT’S NOT VERY OBSERVANT OF YOU. I guess I shouldn’t assume competency out of this lot.

Our world is a fantastic one! We have magic, but we also have some electricity and plumbing!

Gotta love fantasy worlds where you aren’t dying of dysentery!

But I digress! Let us get back to the discussion at hand.

Remember that aforementioned villain? WELL YOU BETTER, I MEAN COME ON, YOU’RE INSPECTORS, IF YOUR SKILLS OF OBSERVATION HAVE LET YOU FORGET ABOUT HIM ALREADY THEN WE’RE GONNA HAVE A BAD TIME. Anyway! A week prior to our narrative the villain sabotaged a well-known newspaper to deliver his message, his warning, his challenge! Mid-way through the day the front page of every newspaper distributed through the capital city melted away; a magical glamour running out of fuel revealing a hidden message which read as the following!

“When two souls we tie
And the clock’s end is nigh
The Champion’s Treasure shall fly”

You were all left completely clueless as to where to start on your investigations… because you aren’t very good at your jobs. BUT NONETHELESS, FATE SHALL FIND A WAY. A star reporter of the newspaper company – The Paragon’s Journal – has put out a notice asking for the aid of talented inspectors! Which sadly, all the help she’ll be getting is from you clods.

That poor, poor woman.

I digress once more! I shall avoid verbally berating you Inspectors for your gross incompetence posthaste! This reporter; let’s call her Pefala Myotahn – why you ask? BECAUSE THAT’S HER NAME. WHY ELSE WOULD I CALL HER THAT? – Is most certain that the target of our villain’s latest heist is an arranged wedding between two of the province’s most influential merchant families. The two ever so lucky individuals to be wed are a Botanist from the Buhnatarro family – heads of the Buhnatarro Trade Consortium – and the other… well, you guessed it, a Gladiator from the Escorro Noble Family – who own a remarkable quantity of mines throughout the province. As you can tell; this arranged marriage is a big deal politically and economically. At least I hope you can tell that, given you’re supposed to be Inspectors. Clearly the amount of wealth, jewellery, precious metals and gemstones that will be present at this wedding are going to be vast – vast beyond the wildest dreams of most commoners and Inspectors such as yourselves.

To add to that; the Gladiator will be holding ‘The Diamond Blade’ – a weapon won from a Grand Tournament held but months ago. The worth of this blade is probably greater than the net worth of all the lives of a thousand people in the capital city’s residential district. The reporter believes this blade is the prize which our villain seeks; however it could merely be a red herring to distract do-gooders from foiling a plot to steal the caches of precious items that will change hands between these two families at this grandest of grand weddings.

What’s that? You want more background information on these two families? WELL THAT MEANS YOU’RE PROBABLY BETTER INSPECTORS THAN THE CHARACTERS YOU’RE GONNA BE PLAYING AS BECAUSE NONE OF YOU DID YOUR HOMEWORK APPARENTLY.

Ah well, I’m sure playing it by ear will work just as fine as going in prepared.

:D

Characters will be generated at the start of the game. All you need to do is have a general idea of what kind of person you will be playing; we’ll fill a few things out before we randomly generate some of your investigator’s capabilities.

For example; each investigator will have 3 “Fantastic Traits” that will be drawn randomly from a deck of traits. Such traits include “Immunity to Explosions” “Absurdly Lucky” or “Actually a Legitimate Licensed Inspector.”

And the rest shall be discussed as we begin our shenanigans proper! Until then, I bid you some synonym of farewell!
