An Early Start

Hey Gryphcongoers!

This is going to be a BIG year for us, it's (as far as records and anecdotal evidence can tell us)Gryphcon's 25th Birthday!

First order of business, Game Submissions will open sometime this week, I know we have several people with some full write-ups already down waiting for that to open. Also, game signup open at 12:01am on Jan 1st, 2013. Be ready!

We're working hard to make the prizes better than ever, garner more support from the developers of our favourite games, and bring more independent game developers into the fold! Expect more tables in the main hall with new and exciting things to play!

We're also simplifying many things. The biggest change is our pass system. Aside from the special events/tournaments, there are now only 4 payment levels:

  • ($5) Access Pass (1 Closed Game Slot Included)
  • ($10) Gamer Pass (3 Closed Game Slots Included)
  • ($15) Enthusiast Pass (5 Closed Game Slots Included)
  • ($20) Insomniac Pass (All 8 Closed Slots Included)

This should put to rest all confusion about types of passes and whathaveyou. All pass types grant you WEEKEND LONG access to the main event hall.

Also on the list of improvements is some much-requested features of the website. You'll start getting a glimpse of them in the next few weeks as my energy-drink fueled development cycle continues. Some of the features to look forward to:

  • Much larger game description area
  • Direct Player Role/Character Assignment
  • Per-game Discussion Areas (replacing direct player emails)
  • File uploads for games
  • Direct messaging

And a few more requests that while not directly feasible, might be doable in a roundabout fashion. If you have any more ideas, send them in to info@gryphcon.org or use the contact form on the menu.
That's all for now folks, expect another update later this week!
