About
This year’s convention is March 26-28th 2010. So cost for the con is $10 per day OR you can signup for a $25 weekend pass. Even better news everybody, for those that prereg you can save $1 per day (or $3 off a weekend pass) and for those with a gamesclub membership you can save an additional $2 off a weekend pass. That is a weekend of gaming for only $20.
Gryphcon has a long and proud history of bringing gaming to the people of Guelph and South-Western, Ontario. The first con was in 1988 and the co-creators were GAGA (Guelph Adult Gamers Association) and the University of Guelph Games Club. The Games Club was originally responsible for running the role-playing sessions and GAGA looked after the board gaming sessions. Three of the original board games played were Ogre Demolition (a modified version of Ogre), World in Flames (a recreation of WWII on a tabletop) that ran the whole weekend and Supremacy. There was also a great Battletech tournament that weekend. We also ran one of the first Cyberpunk tournaments in the area. Over the years the popularity of board games decreased and role-playing became the main focus for the convention and so GAGA let the games club take over. The games club has since increased the convention to include role-playing games of all genres.
