Game Description

THIS SLOT OF THE GAME IS BY INVITATION ONLY, YOU ALL KNOW WHO YOU ARE. IF YOU WERE NOT INVITED BY NAME THEN I INVITE YOU TO SIGN UP FOR THE GAME IN SLOTS 4 OR 8. IT'S ALL THE SAME GAME, I JUST WANTED A SPECIFIC GROUP FOR THIS SLOT.

The Company has lost contact with their most secret research facility on the remote island of Riptide. It is likely that the featured experiment of the facility has broken its bonds and threatens to consume the island and who knows what after that. It is your team's task to rein in this catastrophe as well as negotiate the web of agendas, secrets and lies that The Company routinely weaves around its operatives. Good luck. The Slivers must not leave the island.

As to the nuts and bolts of the game, all characters are pre-generated with abilities and backstories, the players bring them to life from there. Dice-rolling is minimal, the world is based on that of Magic the Gathering but I've taken some liberties with it too.

I'm running this game three times through the weekend with different groups to give more people the chance to take part. Please don't sign up for multiples as it would be redundant and please avoid any spoilers between groups.

I've posted brief descriptions of the characters in each slot but there is much more to each character that can only be disclosed to a player after they sign up. Make your character choice carefully because it can't be changed after the extra information is given to you.

Cheers,

GT

Game Master

Glenn Thompson

The Administrator

Doug Graham In short, you're the boss. You enforce order within Company personnel and you're responsible for the safety of vital information. The Company is your life.

The Bodyguard

Justin Lasich All Company operatives are trained for combat but you are a consummate master. With blade and powerful magiks you are assigned to protect your cadre and vanquish the Sliver foe.

The Expert

Nicholas Ojapalo You are a supernatural security expert. You're responsible for getting your cadre access to the Riptide facility. And who doesn't enjoy walking through walls?

The Scientist

Tyler Bentley All Company operatives are competent scientists in their own right but you are in a class by yourself. You have the ability to properly identify and deal with the Sliver creature and this will be vital to your group's survival.

The Survivor

Sam Titizian You are a junior scientist hiding within the Riptide facility. Much of what has been happening within the facility is unknown to the Company and its operatives. You have spent weeks alone in the facility dodging certain death at the hands of the Slivers. Only you know the truth of Riptide.

Most everyone has or will be getting their characters shortly and everyone may or may not have various colour-coded objectives.

Code Yellow Objective= get this done if you can but it's lower priority, not a huge deal

Code Red Objective= this is a big deal, get this done because it's important, failure to complete will adversely impact your career and standing in the company

Code Black Objective= do this or you're done. don't bother coming back and start running to make it sporting for the incoming assassins

Aesthetics/Tech Level

Hi Glenn,

Since it's time for char descriptions, I was wondering if you could give us a bit of a sketch of the tech level/aesthetics of the setting.

Are we in a medieval state? Renaissance? Near-future? Some sort of multiversal star wars?

It'll just help me describe things like whether or not I'm in a suit, some sort of armor, tunic and hose or what.

Level of technology I would say is more or less standard swords and sorcery D&Dish but with the addition of more advanced scientific techniques assisted with fairly ubiquitous magic for the completion of simple tasks. There's steam power but no non-magical explosives so that means no guns by extension, armour is commonly worn for those who can bear it and expect to face combat
Hi guys!

Hey Glenn and all, I hadn't realized there was a discussion board below the game things.

Since we're gonna be a big ol' team, should we share what we are bringing?

while you are IN CHARACTER you can share anything about yourself, your equipment and abilities that you think will be helpful for the others to know. You also may find it helpful to keep certain things a secret. So share as you like but remember that you can't un-ring the bell
